Women’s football progression in the last 10 years The Football Association Women’s Super League (FA WSL) is the highest league of women’s football in England. Established in 2010, it is run by the Football Association and currently features 12 fully professional teams.  In the last 10 years, women’s football has taken a massive leap, leagues have been switched from Summer to Winter to mirror the men’s leagues and as recent as 2018-2019 a full time top-tier and semi-professional second division is in place. Phillip ‘Pip’ Burrows, a true stalwart of both football and cricket in the Sevenoaks area passed away on Tuesday.

Rob Daw's 64-year association with Chipstead Sailing Club was recognised this month when he was presented with a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Lifetime Commitment Award.

A big-hearted Sevenoaks resident, who was recently diagnosed with an advanced and inoperable brain tumour which has left him almost wheelchair bound, is aiming to overcome his health issues to raise money for Children in Need.

Holmesdale Bowls Club is open again.   Members can play anytime, although there are  a few restrictions in place to comply with social distancing advice.There are organised roll ups, in casual clothes for now, and they take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2-4 p.m.Anyone interested in taking up bowls can pop along to the Club in Worships Hill, Riverhead during those times. The golf industry is facing challenging times at present, but enthusiasts of the sport in the Sevenoaks area can start making plans to visit the 149th Open which is being held at Royal St George’s, Sandwich in 2021 following the cancellation of the Championship in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

On the day Colonel, Tom Moore, celebrates his 100th birthday comes the news that he has teamed up with one of Sevenoaks’ own local heroes to launch a keep fit video campaign.

A new modern leisure centre for Swanley, which is covered by Sevenoaks District Council, was given the go ahead at a Council meeting on 21 April 2020 - and the scheme's cost of £20 million makes it the largest project undertaken by the authority for 30 years.
