More financial help for businesses Millions of pounds of support to help businesses recover from the pandemic will be available soon. The South East Local Enterprising Partnership (SELEP) COVID-19 Recovery Funds Programme has earmarked £4.4m to support the recovery of the economy, investing directly in those areas across the South East most affected by the pandemic. The cash is intended to support start up, help businesses harness digital technology and support for the visitor economy. There’s likely to be fierce completion for the funds, so we’re recommending that you register with SELEP for updates so you can apply as soon as the scheme is open.The

Welcome to the second issue of ‘Your town centre news’. For those of you who don’t know me yet, I’m Dawn Blee, the Council’s new Town Centre Project Officer. Using the EU’s ‘High Streets Safely Fund’, I’m working closely with colleagues from across the Council to support the safe reopening of businesses as the lockdown continues to be eased in the coming days and weeks. The specialist coffee outlet Caffe Nero in Sevenoaks High Street has been shut down according to a notice that appeared on the door today (Monday 28 September).

Local cleaning specialists Wetton has joined forces with Sevenoaks District Council to sanitise street furniture in Sevenoaks town centre for free to help make the area COVID secure.

As lockdown restrictions start to ease, high street stores and businesses in town centres hope that customers will start to return. Car parking charges across the Sevenoaks District were suspended during the lockdown but shoppers are being warned that charges will be reintroduced from Tuesday 23 June 2020.
