What a hoot! Fun for all the family over half term at the Wildlife Reserve near Riverhead

WILDLIFE EVENTS at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve during the schools’ half-term holiday on Monday, 27 May, include What a Hoot!’, a day of owl and bird-based fun including a live outdoor display and a talk from the Kent Owl Academy. The event, which all the family can join in on, takes place between 11am- 2pm. Booking is essential. The 73 hectare Sevenoaks Reserve with its lakes, paths and wildlife is off Bradbourne Vale Rd TN13 3DH. It is open free every day from dawn until dusk and has ample parking. The Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre with its displays and café is open daily 10am- 5pm. No dogs are allowed in the reserve except guide dogs.

BOWLING CLUB: Holmesdale Bowling Club  at the top of  Worships Hill (next to Holmesdale Cricket Club) will be holding an Open Day on Sunday, 26 May, from 10 am – 4 pm.  It is a wonderful opportunity for the Riverhead community to support their local Bowls Club, to come along and ‘have a go’, enjoy a cup of coffee and see what goes on at this very friendly and welcoming local Bowls Club.

Bowls will be available, just turn up wearing  trainers or similar footwear and comfortable clothing. You might find you have hidden talents and will want to join them.

RIVERHEAD PARISH COUNCIL: The next monthly meeting of the Parish Council will be on Monday, 20 May, at 7.30pm in the committee room at Riverhead Village Hall. Riverhead residents are always welcome to attend these meetings. If there is a local matter that you would like to raise, do contact the council beforehand on 01732 461278 or at clerk@riverheadparishcouncil.org.uk or via the website below so that councillors can give you an informed response at the meeting.  The agenda is posted about a week beforehand on the village noticeboards and also on the council website at  www.riverheadpc.kentparishes.gov.uk as are those for meetings of the planning  committee. The Parish Clerk has an office (open Mondays and Thursdays  from 9.30am to 12.30pm) at the village hall and phone messages and emails are picked up regularly at other times. The village hall and the committee room are available to hire. COUNCIL VACANCIES: There are currently two vacancies on the Parish Council as only seven of the nine current members put their names forward again for the recent elections.
