Vegetables, fruit, flowers, cookery, art and crafts all on display at the Eynsford Gardeners’ Club Autum Show

EYNSFORD GARDENERS’ CLUB AUTUMN SHOW, its biggest of the year, will be held on Sunday, 8 September, at Eynsford Village Hall which will be packed full of vegetables, fruit, flowers, cookery and arts and crafts exhibits. You can browse the exhibits or enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake. (For timings and entrance fee see poster here).

The club, which is celebrating 140 years, runs four horticultural shows each year to fit with the seasons. Future dates are Saturday 16 November 2019 at 2pm; Saturday 28 March 2020 at 2pm and Saturday 13 June 2020 at 2pm.

FARNINGHAM W.I: There will be a Macmillan fund raiser coffee morning at the Farningham Village Hall on 14 September between 10am and noon. Everyone is welcome and the money raised will go to Macmillian Cancer Support.

EYNSFORD IN BLOOM: Working parties meet at back of main village car park opposite the church. Future working party dates are: 9.30am on Tuesdays September 3,10,17,24. Thursdays at 6pm to 8pm on September 5,12,19,26. Saturdays 9.30am September 7; October 5. New helpers are always very welcome, tools and coffee are provided. AXSTANE PLAYERS COMEDY: The Noble Spaniard, a hilarious farce directed by Barry Payne is being performed at Farningham Village hall on Friday, 18 September and Saturday 19 September. MUSICAL REUNION: The former 10-piece funk, soul and dance band Digging Deeper is getting back together for a special charity fundraising reunion gig in Eynsford Village Hall on Saturday 28 September (8pm start).Digging Deeper includes several musicians with connections to Eynsford and playing in the village hall will be a nostalgic trip back in time for at least two of them. Mark Gorringe and Ted Mills both started their playing days to audiences in the village hall back in the 70s in bands such as Hangover and Gremlin. All proceeds from the gig are going to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. There will be a bar and a luxury items prize draw. WALKING INTO FRIENDSHIP AND FITNESS: Many local walkers belong to the Eynsford and Crockenhill Rights of Way Group. Walks start from Eynsford Riverside at 9.30am on Mondays. There is no need to book, turn up and meet the group and the leader. Usually the walk is about five miles. INDOOR BOOT SALE: There will be a fundraiser for Farningham Village Hall on Saturday 18 January 2020 from 10am-1pm. Seller’s tables available, single £7, double £10. Admission is free for buyers and there will be refreshments on offer. This New Year’s fund raiser is for the village hall and to celebrate National Village Halls week so please book now and add it to your calendar. A FARNINGHAM FRIDAY CAFÉ is held at the Shand Hall, just behind Farningham Church, from 10am – noon every Friday. Everyone is invited to come and share a coffee or tea with old friends or new. For more information email: farninghamcfc@outlook.com

TEA AND CHAT: A friendly group meets every Thursday at Farningham Village Hall and offers a supportive and enjoyable break to anyone who is lonely or perhaps just needs a little time away from their house or would like to meet some new friends, chat and share some cake and tea. FRIENDS OF FARNINGHAM is a group of volunteers who meet for just an hour twice every month to help tidy the village. The group meets at the village hall at 10am on Thursday 26 September and on Saturday 7 September. FARNINGHAM & EYNSFORD LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY: The next meeting is on 20 September and will focus on the influence that Dartford has had in shaping the world around us. FARNINGHAM VILLAGE HALL: The website shows when the hall is available, the costs of hire and what other regular activities take place. There are still a few free weekend and weekday slots available for regular activities and any family activities or events. The hall provides ideal facilities for parties, weddings and any fundraising events. You can hire just the main hall or the whole building, with or without the Market Meadow.
