Man charged after reports that duo dressed as policemen used car with flashing blue lights to gain entrance into homes in village near Sevenoaks

A suspected burglar has been charged in connection with a break-in near Ide Hill involving bogus police officers.

At around 11.30pm on 9 July 2019 a vehicle with blue flashing lights on its roof is reported to have approached a gated entrance to flats in Emmetts Lane, Ide Hill.

Two men dressed as police officers and a third person, who was driving the car, were allowed access to the grounds. It is alleged the suspects then burgled a property, stealing cash and items including designer handbags. It is further reported the suspects also attempted to force their way into another address. Kent Police attended and seized a knife which had been left at the scene.

At around 6am on Thursday 22 August an investigation then led officers to arrest Daniel Bowen, aged 43, at his home in Wolfe Crescent, Charlton. He was later charged with aggravated burglary and attempted burglary with intent to steal.
