Taking to the ring at Sevenoaks Boxing Club

Recently, My Sevenoaks Community paid a visit to Sevenoaks Boxing Club to check out this much loved local enterprise, and of course try our hand at a bit of sparring! Run by the uncle and nephew duo, Paul Lynch and Andy Knight, the pair have a passion for helping people achieve both mental and physical wellbeing.

Practicing my left jab on Paul

As a PT myself, it was their motivational spirit which won me over. Keen to get into the ring with founder Paul Lynch, former Kent ABA Middle Weight Champion, I was soon gloved up and ready to throw some jabs his way. Surrounded by punch bags and nostalgic photos of famous boxing champions, it is no wonder why people feel inspired to come here to get ‘fighting fit’. I undoubtedly felt a boost of energy from just being in the ring! From an upper cut to a hook, Paul’s coaching tips guided me through our round of sparring, which admittedly was made all the more enjoyable by Paul’s light humour and quick wit!

Rolling with the punches

From weekly classes for individuals wanting to gain strength and fitness, coaching juniors the core disciplines of boxing, to supporting amateurs hoping to step up to competition level, the club have forged a fun and friendly environment for all to enjoy. If getting in the ring isn’t your thing though, I would recommend their amazing box fit classes. A firm favourite to many, the classes offer an invigorating full body workout using your own bodyweight and a boxing bag. Designed to tone, improve your strength and endurance, plus burn those calories, these classes are a great option for any age, ability and gender.

But don’t just take my word for it, why not pay them a visit and sample a session that will get your heart pumping and endorphins flowing. There will certainly be a pair of gloves waiting for you!
