Spring bank holiday Monday 25 May – refuse collections will all be a day later than usual that week
Refuse, recycling and garden waste collections will be a day later than usual next week due to the spring bank holiday.
This Bank Holiday there will be no collections on Monday 25 May. All collections that week will take place a day later until Saturday 30 May.
Residents are requested to put their black and clear sacks out by 7am and their garden waste out by 6.30am on their collection day.
Cabinet member for ‘Cleaner and Greener’, Cllr Margot McArthur said: “Our refuse collectors are the best in the business and we’re so proud of their hard work throughout the coronavirus pandemic. They’ve continued to collect waste every week and the week following the bank holiday will be no different.”
Some people were confused by another recent Bank Holiday which was held on a Friday (8 May) to coincide with VE 75 Day. The following week, many residents believed they had to put out their rubbish a day later like other Bank Holidays but this was not the case.
