Popular Riverhead Carnival cancelled this year because of ongoing Covid restrictions
Andrew Holland, Chairman of the 3rd Sevenoaks (Riverhead & Dunton Green) Scouts messaged My Sevenoaks Community to say:
“With great regret, the organising committee of the Riverhead Carnival has decided to cancel this year’s event, which was due to take place (at Chipstead Common – pictured) on Sunday 20 September.
We held out for as long as we could, hoping that Coronavirus restrictions would be sufficiently relaxed to allow the event to go ahead, but with the date approaching, and public event restrictions still in place, we had no choice but to cancel.
The event is organised by the 3rd Sevenoaks Scouts, and we will be back, bigger and better than ever, for the Riverhead Carnival on the 19th September 2021.
The Scouts also organise the Riverhead village firework display, which this year is due to take place on Saturday, 7 November, at the Scout HQ in Bradbourne Vale Road.
No decision regarding this event has yet been taken, but we will need further relaxation of restrictions, especially regarding social distancing, if it is to go ahead. We will publicise our decision in late September.
