New pilates class for golfers

Golfers can now be able to enjoy a new pilates class specifically designed for them at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing.

Pilates teacher Jenny Russell, who already runs four pilates classes in the studio at Hever Castle Golf & Wellbeing, is starting a pilates for golfers class on Monday nights at 6pm.

Golfers will be able to find out how pilates can help improve flexibility, rotation and stability with specific exercises targeted for them.

Jenny said: “Pilates helps with rotation. You get improved mobility in hips and thoracic spine that will help with swing.”

Professional golfers are now turning to pilates to help reduce injury and also improve movement.

Louise Aylwin, a physiotherapist who regularly works with elite athletes, including Ryder cup golfers, said: “Pilates can not only help reduce the number of injuries golfers suffer, but can also improve movement and therefore improve their game.

“Pro golfers are now turning to Pilates as an essential training tool that keeps the body in balance as well as actually improving their performance.”
