Future of village shop secured

THE purchase of the old Methodist Chapel in Weald by the Parish Council took many years to complete but it will now become the village’s Community Shop. Weald villagers acted quickly when Barbara’s, their last remaining store, located by the green, shut up shop.

The post office had also moved there after Weald’s other store opposite The Windmill pub also closed some years ago.

The village were given some advice on how to run their own community shop by Ide Hill residents who also took the decision to set up their own community shop when they were also left without a village store and post office.

Weald has been running their own shop in a temporary home next to the Memorial Hall, but this will shortly move into the refurbished Methodist Chapel. For more information on this and other Weald news, click here.
