Welham Jones: A Funeral Directors with community and family at heart
With family values underpinning everything they do, Welham Jones Funerals and Memorials are an independent funeral directors in Kent. Uniting two families through marriage, Welham Jones has successfully been serving the local community for over 25 years by ‘seamlessly blending professionalism with a personal touch’. In upholding a ‘fierce pride’ in having their family name attached to their business, means that their standard of service is never compromised. This service has continuously evolved over the years with daughter Rebecca Welham’s fusion of modern technology and traditional methods, that ensure customers receive the upmost dignified service in turbulent times of grief and distress.
Accepting the anguish that surrounds death has become a reality to the Welham family, but by no means one to be feared. This acceptance of the circle of life is thus no taboo topic. Instead, these are considered times to celebrate the life of the person lost. It is this celebration that is channelled into a service that strives to ‘truly reflect loved ones and for the experience to be fulfilling and uplifting for everyone involved’. Combined with 24/7 support, Welham Jones’ professionally trained staff are always available to provide emotional and practical care whenever it is required.
This support has been indispensable during the past 18 months of the pandemic. With many Covid 19 related losses having caused a significant spike in the demand for Welham Jones’ services, the team have undoubtedly been ‘overworked and stretched’ whilst having to adhere to stringent Covid measures, alongside going above and beyond to soften the strain of those who lost a loved one. However, with the pandemic now easing, Rebecca is optimistic and thankful that the business is gradually regaining a sense of normality after much physical and mental exertion. A lifting of restrictions now comes as a breath of fresh air, offering light at the end of a dark tunnel, with a selection of upcoming events soon to bring much optimism and positivity to the local community over the next several months.
With October being the month for breast cancer awareness, Welham Jones are proud to be showing their enduring support for this worthy cause by turning their Sevenoaks branch windows pink. Equally uplifting will be the memorial service to be held on 2nd November at St Luke’s Church in Sevenoaks. This service will be dedicated to the families who were unable to celebrate their lost loved ones due to Covid restrictions. A celebration of the festive kind is also on the horizon, as Welham Jones plans to distribute novelty Christmas boxes for children who will be spending Christmas in hospitals and hospices.
By spreading a message of love, joy and unity through such heartfelt tokens of generosity and thought in a business that holds a stereotypically sombre perception, it is clear that Welham Jones’ strong ties to both family and community breaks the mould of many other traditionally ran funeral directors. This progressive mindset is cultivated by Rebecca’s determination to change the tone of the the work she so loves. Through working her way up to becoming the first ever female funeral director in Sevenoaks, and to now proudly employ more female employees across all seven branches, her forward thinking indeed serves the community well. Through impacting the lives of others as best she can, Rebecca anticipates the continuation of Welham Jones’ successful legacy and loyalty.
Anyone wishing to donate novelty boxes for their Christmas initiative can drop them into any Welham Jones branch.
