Riverhead cub and scout groups continue to meet up to take part in challenges – in cyberspace

SCOUTS AND CUBS GO ONLINE: Resourceful Scout Leaders of the 3rd Sevenoaks (Riverhead and Dunton Green) Scout Group have risen to the occasion of the lock-down and have maintained various activities remotely.

Scout Leader Chris McCann reports that the group have been having some very good Zoom meetings with a lot of the youngsters taking part. Stanhope Cubs have had ‘at home’ scavenger hunts around the house, Pictionary, and quizzes on-line.

Bradbourne Scouts have also taken part in a scavenger hunt, quiz, small raft building and set challenges. Amherst Cubs had their first Zoom meeting to get used to the technology and Lambarde Scouts have been taking on some Minecraft challenges and other tasks.

The feedback has been very good from the young people and their parents and Chris said: “It’s a great way that they can meet up and see their friends and have a bit of fun at the same time.

“Sadly, plans for some of the camps earlier in the season have had to be put on hold but we have our fingers crossed that the July and August camps might still happen.”

ST MARY’S PRE SCHOOL at Riverhead Village Hall is currently closed like many others so is unable to offer visits or open days. However supervisor Sue Shuttleworth says they are currently recruiting new children for September.

St Mary’s, which has been operating in Riverhead for very many years, cares for children aged 2½ t0 5 and is open 9am – 3pm on weekdays, except Wednesdays, in term time only.

If you are looking for a pre-school for your child for the autumn please contact Sue, either via email: stmaryspreschool2@btinternet.com or their website: www.stmaryspreschoolriverhead.co.uk
