Poppy appeal benefits from Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club’s annual Boxing Dinner show at New Beacon School

SEVENOAKS Amateur Boxing Club’s 5th annual dinner show held at New Beacon School, Sevenoaks, recently, attracted more than 200 guests who were treated to a great evening of entertainment.

There was a fantastic team spirit amongst all boxers and coaches throughout the evening.

The club and its committee were extremely grateful to the school for being so accommodating. It allowed them to transform a hall into an attractive venue where guests were welcomed at a champagne reception before they enjoyed a three-course meal, and were entertained by a magician, live music and nine incredible amateur boxing bouts.

The money raised from the show went towards the charitable boxing club, and to the Poppy Appeal and Royal British Legion. To further show its support to The British Legion, the gym on the Weald Gaza Estate, where members of Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club train, has also donated one week’s takings from Junior and Senior Amateur Boxing sessions to the Poppy Appeal 2018.

Sevenoaks boxer Wes Chambers won by Technical Knockout in the 3rd round of his bout.

Andrew Knight, the head coach at Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club, said: “We are incredible proud of all boxers who took part in the dinner show. They have shown incredible self-discipline, dedication while completing endless hours of training to prepare their three rounds lasting two minutes each. All the hard work paid off and family, friends and coaches are all very proud!

“Boxing is a science. You don’t just walk into a gym and start punching. Fighters are born with differences in their skills. That is the trainers influence at work.”

There is no time for the Sevenoaks boxers to rest on their laurels as the hard word never stops. The boxers are all back in training and focusing on their next Amateur Boxing adventure every Monday and Wednesday during their Junior and Senior sessions at the Weald gym.

Joe Cullen from the Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club, won with a unanimous decision after three nail-biting rounds. This was Joe’s 2nd win this year.

But if you want to get fit before Christmas, the club also offers daily Box Fit classes and PT sessions. The trainers say Box Fit sessions are a guaranteed 60-minute fun heart pumping and full body workout.

Using your own bodyweight and a boxing bag, the high intensity cardio training will tone up your body, improve your strength and endurance and burn those calories. No fancy machines needed to achieve results at this authentic boxing gym. All classes are attended by mixed ages, gender, and abilities.
