Have your say on conservation areas across the Sevenoaks District before the 30 November deadline

A SIX-WEEK consultation has started during which Sevenoaks residents can give their thoughts and opinions on the revised Conservation Area appraisals for Brasted High Street, Leigh, Seal, Shoreham and Swanley Village. The deadline to comment on the proposals is 5pm on Friday 30 November 2018.

St Peter and St Paul Church in Seal towers above the surrounding buildings and trees and is framed by the beautiful North Downs in the background. Seal is one of the areas before consulted on in the revised Conservation Area appraisals

A conservation area is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. Once finalised, Conservation Area appraisals provide everyone involved in the planning process with a framework against which future planning applications in a conservation area can be assessed and determined.

Sevenoaks District Council is hosting a number of drop in events where residents can find out more and have their say on the proposals. Times and locations for these can be found at www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/conservationareas and local residents will also be posted a leaflet offering further information.  E-mail submissions can also be made by contacting conservation@sevenoaks.gov.uk

Cllr Robert Piper, Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet Member for Planning, says: “These areas provide a rich and valued heritage that is very important to the District so it is incredibly important we hear everyone’s thoughts on what needs to be done to safeguard this. I urge everyone to visit the website and give their thoughts, or if they are a little unsure, please come along to one of the events and talk to one of our professionals.”
