Future of the former Farmers pub site in Sevenoaks to be debated by District Council tomorrow (Tuesday)

As a result of a campaign by Sevenoaks Society’s campaign and a 1,500 signature petition calling for action on the derelict Farmers pub site opposite Sevenoaks station, Sevenoaks District Council will be debating the matter at 7pm tomorrow (Tuesday, 25 February).

The former Farmers Pub that stood opposite Sevenoaks station

David Green, The Sevenoaks Society chairman, will be making a presentation during the debate on the need to develop the site without further delay. He will outline a proposal as to the reasons the Council must compulsorily purchase the site and take the lead in developing a scheme for much-needed housing.

The Society is keen to stress that this is a critical moment in terms of the future of the site which hass stood vacant since the Farmers Pub was demolished fourteen years ago despite a campaign to try and save it.

The meeting is open to all and The Sevenoaks Society is hoping for a good attendance from members of the public and a full and fair debate that objectively considers all the issues – and results in what it regards as the correct outcome.

The current view of the former Farmers Pub site which many consider is an eyesore for people arriving in the town at Sevenoaks Station

The debate will take place in the Council chamber of the District Council’s offices in Argyle Road, Sevenoaks TN13 1HG.
