Football players wanted for a bit of late night five-a-side once a week

Do you love playing football, but are what the pundits on Match of the Day might describe as, ‘coming to the end of your playing career’? Or maybe you just want a bit of exercise, but nothing too serious?

Then a local group who get together for a 5-a-side kick around every week might be offering just what you are looking for. They meet every Thursday in the Sports Hall at Trinity School on Seal Hollow Road in Sevenoaks between 9-10pm.

One of the organisers, Alastair Bennett, explains: “This regular get together was started in the 1980s by a group of friends who played for many years in the Wilderness School Sports Hall on the same site.

“Most of us that play now are in our late 30s, but players range in age from early 20s to 40s.  We have historically lost and gained players as age, injuries, other commitments or moving away have caught up with people. We are now in need of a few more players to keep our numbers up to at least 10 players every week.”

“It’s a relaxed game with no referee and the players are decided on a first reply/first served basis via a WhatsApp group – if you miss out one week, you get first refusal the following week.

“Each player pays £5 that night. We try to make each game as balanced as possible by creating teams of equal ability on the night, so anyone who wants to play football for an hour is welcome.”
