Enter the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland at Hever Castle this Christmas

Hever Castle & Gardens will be taking you on a magical journey down the rabbit hole and into the enchanting world of Alice in Wonderland during the festive period.

Rooms of the Castle will be traditionally decorated with twinkling lights and welcoming log fires while outside in the grounds, you can follow the whimsical Alice in a Christmas Wonderland themed interactive trail containing lights and music as you to try and catch up with the White Rabbit.

The immersive trail will see you peer into White Rabbit’s house and sit at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Toadstools and giant flowers line the path as you meet colourful characters along the way including the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

Join the King of Hearts in a game of flamingo croquet and meet the infamous Queen of Hearts (on weekends and selected dates). Topiary Walk will also feature half painted roses to satisfy the Queen of Heart’s love of red roses.

As dusk falls, the stunning gardens are transformed into a festive wonderland with up-lighting and colour washes. During Twilight evenings (6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 23 December) visitors will also get a chance to meet the Duchess and there will be red hearts and playing cards projected onto the front of the Castle.

Immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit at Hever Castle Wednesdays to Sundays from 23 November and daily from 9 to 24 December. Each weekend and daily from selected dates, ride the carousel and enjoy vintage fairground stalls (£1 per go), meet characters along the trail such as the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and the King and Queen of Hearts.

Visitors can also pose for a picture with a husky (suggested £2 donation towards Siberian Husky Welfare Association) each weekend and at the Twilight evenings.

Nothing says ‘Christmas’ quite like a visit to Father Christmas in his Grotto. Children will be enchanted by the magical Grotto where they will be taken by an elf through the snowy ‘forest’ to meet Father Christmas in his log cabin. Father Christmas visits must be pre-booked (tickets are £11.95 each), and each child will take home a special age-appropriate gift.

Children who have not booked to visit Father Christmas in his Grotto may get the chance to meet him in his captivating Toy Workshop on 7, 8, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 and 23 December (and on Twilight evenings). Kids will have the opportunity to visit him on a first come first served basis and will receive a general gift. Tickets cost £8.50 and can only be purchased in the grounds on the day, at the Information Centre or Courtyard Shop.

Experience Hever Castle after dark at magical Twilight Christmas evenings taking place on 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 23 December which offer the perfect opportunity to see the exquisite gardens illuminated and enjoy the Castle decorations by the warmth of log fires (extra date added this year by popular demand). Father Christmas will be in his snow-dusted grotto and there will be a fairground carousel. Twilight Christmas events must be pre-booked.
