D-Day remembered in Sevenoaks
SEVENOAKS commemorated the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Vine War Memorial on Thursday 6 June 2019.
The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Cllr Nicholas Busvine OBE, was joined by the Sevenoaks District Chairman, Cllr John Edwards-Winser, and representatives from the Royal British Legion, Sevenoaks Air Cadets and the Sevenoaks Royal Navy Association.
Cllr Nicholas Busvine OBE said: “On the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, I along with the Sevenoaks community, would like to pay tribute to all the men and boys who fought so bravely for their country and for the freedom of Europe.”
Cllr John Edwards-Winser added: “I was honoured mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings. We owe so much, especially our freedom, to the thousands of brave young men who fought on the Normandy beaches 75 years ago day.”
