Shakespeare is back!

After a year’s enforced absence, open-air Shakespeare returns to Sevenoaks this July – but with a difference.

Sevenoaks Shakespeare Society is to perform the hit comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) in the gardens of the White Rock Inn at Underriver.

The play, by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, is a hilarious romp through all Shakespeare’s 37 plays in two hours.

“Last year we weren’t able to share a Shakespeare play”, says the show’s director Jessica-Ann Jenner. “So this year we thought we’d do them all! With guaranteed comedy, romance, tragedy and an inflatable dinosaur, this is the Bard as you’ve never seen him before.”

The society, which has been performing at the White Rock since 2007, had to cancel last year’s production but has tailored the new one to the Covid-19 restrictions. The production is supported by Sevenoaks District Arts Council and Sevenoaks District Council.

Tania Davies, the new licensee of the White Rock Inn commented “It is with great pleasure that we welcome back Sevenoaks Shakespeare Society to our garden, providing some much missed entertainment for all ages!” The pub will be providing pre-show meals and drinks.
