Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce members take a tour of We Are Beams – one of their chosen charities of the year

MEMBERS of the Sevenoaks and District Chamber of Commerce were given a tour of the impressive facilities offered to disabled children by We Are Beams when the charity hosted a Swanley networking meeting this week (15 May) at their premises in St David’s Road, Swanley.

We Are Beams is one of the Sevenoaks Chamber’s Charities of the Year and the Head of the Charity, Katrina Adams, explained to the guests how they help disabled children and young people who typically have one or more learning difficulty, complex health needs, physical or sensory impairment, challenging behaviour, Autism or severe ADHD.

Katrina also highlighted how We Are Beams helps families by offering advice, holidays, short breaks and overnight stays which can allow parents to have some time to themselves.

We Are Beams holds Family Advice Drop-in sessions for parents/carers of disabled children and these sessions are now being offered for the first time every Wednesday between 10am – 2pm at Spring House, Children’s Centre in Hospital Road, Sevenoaks.

Parents can get free advice on matters relating to health, education, social care, financial matters, transport and emotional support. Although there is no need to make an appointment, as parents can just drop-in, appointments can be booked in advance by contacting the We Are Beams Family Advice Team on 01322 668 501 (ext 1) or email: family advice@wearebeams.org.uk
