Players at Wildernesse golf day swing into action and raise £15,000 for Hospice in the Weald

A special charity golf day held at Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks recently raised an impressive £15,000 for Hospice in the Weald.

The event, hosted by club captain James Howard, attracted 24 teams with Kelvin Laing-Williams, Sarah Laing-Williams, David Ironside and Chris Sellar emerging a overall victors with a score of 39 Stableford points. The event, which was sponsored by Savills of Sevenoaks, also included a prize draw and an auction, which contributed to the final amount raised.

Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. They offer tailored support to all those affected by terminal illness, whether that be the patient, a family member or carer during the hard times they endure.

Club Captain James Howard said: “We are really appreciative for the funds raised for the Hospice in the Weald. The work they do is very important in the local community, and we hope the contribution from our charity golf day will be helpful to their important work.  It was wonderful to see so many teams turn out to enjoy some great golf, while also helping to raise money for charity”

Seth Bara from Hospice in the Weald added: “This is a truly fantastic result and is a wonderful reward for all the hard work that was put into the organisation and execution on the day. The raised amount could fund our Hospice Day Service for a whole week benefiting around 150 patients, family members, carers who visit, as well as the staff that care for and support them.  Thank you.”
