PLANT SALE: Kent Dahlia Society will be holding their annual sale between 9.30am and 11am on Saturday (5 May) in the Otford Memorial Hall. On sale will be Dahlia plants, annuals, perennials, vegetables, and herbs. Refreshments will be available and admission is free. All are welcome.
OTFORD MEDICAL PRACTICE is holding its first Diabetes Support Group meeting at 12.15 on Friday 4 May at the Surgery in Leonard Avenue. Everyone is welcome. They are also planning to arrange walks of varying lengths for anyone who would like to join them. The first is at 10am on Friday May 18 meeting in the High Street car park for a walk to Shoreham with a coffee stop mid-way. This walk is approximately three miles on fairly flat terrain. OTFORD EVENING WI is holding its AGM on Thursday 10 May. It will be followed by one of Linda’s fantastic quizzes which are not to be missed. THE ANNUAL COMMUNITY FOOTBALL MATCH will kick off at 6.30pm on Wednesday 16 May on the High Street Recreation Ground. Money raised will go towards West Kent Mind. Please do go along and support them.

OTFORD PARISH COUNCIL is holding its next full meeting on Monday May 14 in the Club Room of the Memorial Hall – 7.30pm start. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings to find out what your councillors do to keep our village functioning and there is a 10-minute public forum at the start of the meeting for you to ask any questions or air your views. If you are interested in the activities of the parish council, the Minutes of the meeting are available in the village library, plus minutes, agendas and newsletters can be obtained via the web www.otfordpc.kentparishes.gov.uk.
OTFORD AND DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY members are meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday 16 May in the Memorial Hall when Alan Williams will talk about ‘Through Kent to the Continent by Boat Train’. Adult subscription is £10, visitors are welcome at £3 per meeting and there is no charge for under 16’s.
THERE IS A VACANCY on Otford Parish Council. If you are interested in serving as a councillor you can apply in writing or by email to the Clerk, providing brief background details and stating why you would like to join the council. To qualify a person must be a British subject, aged over 18 years old and an elector, must reside in, or within three miles of the Otford Parish boundary or occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises therein, or have their principal or only place of work there, and must not be disqualified from holding office as a councillor. OTFORD UNITED Junior Football Club is holding an Awards Event between 2pm and 6pm on Sunday 10 June outside the Eric Dilley Pavilion on the High Street Recreation Ground. They are hoping for about 500 guests, and will have sweet stands, and be selling soft drinks in the pavilion, with an outside caterer selling burgers and pulled pork rolls, alongside some games for the kids. Make a diary note as this celebration should not be missed.
SEVENOAKS FLOWER CLUB is meeting at 1.45pm on Tuesday 8 May in the Memorial Hall to see Robin White, Area Demonstrator, present ‘The Link is in the Green.’ There will be a raffle of flower arrangements, a sales tables and refreshments available.
