Inca Pottery: ceramics crafted with care

First in our Sevenoaks business women profiles is Anna da Silva, who runs a small local business called Inca Pottery. Having grown up in Cornwall, Anna has always had a passion for Pottery, but did not pursue it fully as a career until her mid 40’s.

Anna

With her new found talents as a potter, Anna has forged a successful business working from her home studio and selling through her website. It is this element of freedom which gives her the opportunity to improve her skills, and enables her to work long but flexible hours around her family.

Each piece on Anna’s website is lovingly hand crafted, and designed for durability and functionality. With multiple collections inspired by colour themes, such as woodland green to coastal blue, there are beautiful pieces to suit all tastes. From the popular ‘set of 3 nesting heart bowls’ which stack together and are great for tapas or serving snacks, to the ‘noodle/ramen bowl with chopsticks’ that are perfect for all needs, and make unique gifts.

In addition to the stunning pieces displayed on her website, Anna also makes bespoke gifts to bring a customers idea to life. When chatting to Anna, her passion for her job shines through: ‘To have a lump of clay, and to create a functional piece from it, is a real joy’ she says. This satisfaction is certainly reflected in her work, as each ceramic is as pleasing on the eye as it is to use.

For a chance to meet Anna and check out her wonderful collections, you can catch her at the next at Pop up Brocante at the Stables in Underriver on the 30th June – 3rd July. Then in November, Anna will be displaying at the Wealden Times Midwinter fair at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood. An ideal opportunity to purchase something special for Christmas!
