Deckhouse Brings Coastal Cool to Sevenoaks

If you’ve wandered through Sevenoaks town centre lately and found yourself wondering where that faint scent of sizzling tapas and laid-back laughter is coming from – wonder no more. You’ve stumbled upon Deckhouse, the town’s newest café-bar-restaurant hybrid, where the coastal spirit of the West Coast has been cleverly bottled up and poured directly into Sevenoaks life.

Opened just seven months ago in September 2024, Deckhouse has fast become the kind of place where time slows down a little, the food is fresh and the vibe is, well… decidedly beachy. Think sandy feet without the sand, surfboards in spirit and food that’s more sunshine-in-a-bowl than your average town centre fare.

A Slice of the Coast

The concept came from a tight-knit group of friends who launched the original Deckhouse in Taunton, Somerset back in 2022. Fuelled by a deep nostalgia for days spent lounging on the South West coast, they decided it was high time that inland towns got a taste of that barefoot, post-surf, “what’s-the-rush?” vibe.

Their second spot, right here in Sevenoaks, marks a meaningful new chapter. The lovely Lynell is very much in charge of the Sevenoaks team, keeping things running smoothly with her signature warmth and energy. Meanwhile, operations whizz Chris and marketing maestro James are still very much hands-on across both locations, and if you pop in for a coffee or a cocktail, you might just catch them chatting to customers or sampling the latest tapas twist.

Deckhouse isn’t just a place to eat – it’s trying to become part of the community furniture (the comfy, worn-in, well-loved kind). It’s already joined forces with local names like the Sevenoaks Nutrition Club, hosted networking nights with the Chamber of Commerce and even welcomed the TN Card crowd and the Mums Club. In short: they’re here, they’re social and they want to be your new favourite hangout.

What’s Cooking?

Deckhouse serves from 9 am ‘til late, which means you can start the day with one of their hearty breakfasts or brunch options then swing back later for tapas with friends, or wind down after work with a cheeky cocktail (Happy Hour’s calling your name from 5–7 pm, Monday to Friday).

The menu changes regularly, keeping things fresh – both in flavour and in supply. Everything is made on-site, so while the kitchen won’t be dishing out microwave meals at lightning speed, you will get quality food worth waiting for. This is “good food, not fast food” territory.

Highlights? The Surf ‘n’ Turf and Surfside Poke Bowls are already local favourites and the tapas menu leans hard into sociable dining. Grab a few plates to share and settle in – it’s the kind of meal that turns into a long chat, then a bottle of wine and before you know it, the evening’s drifted by in the best way.

And yes, there’s bottomless brunch, local draught beers and a drinks menu that’s as easygoing as the vibe.

See the menu here.

Come for the Food, Stay for the Fun

Deckhouse isn’t just feeding the town – they’re entertaining it too. The events calendar is bursting, with 2-3 events every month. We’re talking everything from drag nights and Valentine’s specials to wine tastings, quiz nights and games evenings. Business brunches and fundraisers also make regular appearances, showing how seamlessly Deckhouse flips from café to community club.
Need a venue for your own do? The team offer private hire, whether it’s the whole shebang or just a cosy corner.

Dogs Welcome, Humans Too

With a dog-friendly policy, plenty of outdoor seating, and a space that’s genuinely welcoming to all ages (whether you’re on a buggy stroll, escaping the office for lunch or wrangling a lively toddler), Deckhouse has positioned itself as a relaxed spot for just about any occasion. All the family are welcome, and there’s even a lovely kids’ menu to keep the little ones happy while the grown-ups enjoy their flat whites or cocktails. Whether you’re in for a solo coffee, a working lunch or tapas with the gang, there’s room at the (very stylish) inn.

And If You Can’t Make It?

Well, they’ll come to you. Yep, Deckhouse is on Deliveroo, so that juicy burger or zingy salad can be delivered right to your desk/doorstep/sofa.

Final Word

Seven months in, and Deckhouse already feels like it’s been part of the town longer than your last loyalty card. It’s laid-back without being lazy, cool without trying too hard and somehow manages to bring the coastline inland without a single grain of sand in sight.

Whether you’re after brunch with mates, a lively quiz night, or a new go-to for date night dinner and drinks, this is one spot you’ll want to put on your local radar.

So next time you’re passing through Sevenoaks town centre, follow the laughter, the clink of glasses and the low hum of good vibes – Deckhouse is calling.

And honestly? You’d be daft not to answer.

Make a reservation here.
