Classic car day starts at Westerham Brewery
CLASSIC car enthusiasts can take a trip back in time on Sunday 22 April at the annual ‘Drive it Day’ organised by Classic Car Connections.
The gathering of vehicles from days gone by is starting at Westerham Brewery in Beggars Lane Westerham, TN16 1QP before a tour of Kent commences. It will culminate in a display at Lullingstone castle near Eynsford, where afternoon tea will also be on offer.
The Kent event is one of many around the country under the umbrella of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and the date each year is set as close as possible to the anniversary of the One Thousand Mile Trial, one of the first events held for vehicle enthusiasts in 1900 by the Royal Automobile Club. It now also helps raise money for charity.
The Federation, which is a grouping of over 450 clubs and museums together with some 1500 trade and individual supporters, hopes to maintain the enthusiasm for classic cars commemorated all those years ago.
Classic Car Connections invites everyone that has a classic car or loves classic cars to join in with the event, with spectators welcome to come to the Westerham Brewery to wave the convoy off or to greet them at Lullingstone Castle.
If you have a classic car you would like to enter for the event the cost is only £5 and you can book your place by clicking here. (booking fee applies).
The programme for the day is as follows:
10am – Westerham Brewery with food from Brisket and Barrel.
12pm – Tour of Kent.
1pm – Cars on display within the grounds of Lullingstone Castle. Enjoy an afternoon cream tea and tours of the castle are available at 3pm.
4.30pm – Last entry to the castle.
