Callous thieves steal trees from new care home in Seal

THE staff and residents at Lavender Fields Care Home in Seal have been left shocked and disappointed to find that last week thieves struck overnight and stole four of their newly planted trees.

Karen Cooper, Home Manager at Lavender Fields, points to where the new conifer trees were stolen from

The conifer trees were part of a larger landscaping area at the new home which has been carefully designed to make the residents lives brighter and happier.

Alex Lindsay of Evergreen Landscaping who planted the trees said: “I cannot believe that people would steal from a charity that provides care to older people, it is pretty disappointing that anyone would do this.”

Lavender Fields is a recently opened luxury care home situated in Seal near Sevenoaks. It is run by Greensleeves Care which was named the UK’s Best Care Charity by Which? Magazine in February 2018.

It is home to older people who need care and support to remain independent and to people living with dementia in separate and self-sufficient areas, but safe and positive outdoor space is a priority for everybody.

Karen Cooper, Home Manager at Lavender Fields, said: “We look after lots of lovely older people and the outdoor space is really important to them.  We hope that whoever has taken the trees realises that the care home and its surroundings are designed to bring joy to older people who live at Lavender Fields.”
