A Tonne of Food
Sevenoaks Larder food bank held a donation drive over the Easter Weekend at the Tesco store in Riverhead. Volunteers braved the chilly weather to hand out the food bank’s donation wish list and customers generously responded by donating a massive 1.2 tonnes of food in just 3 days.
Speaking on behalf of Sevenoaks Larder, Trustee Gordon Lee said:
“We can’t thank Tesco enough – they have been incredibly supportive, not only by having a permanent food donation bin in store for us but also by donating surplus food to us twice a week.”
Claire Ritchie, Chair of the Trustees, said:
“The people of Sevenoaks have always been so incredibly supportive and generous to us, and the Easter weekend donation drive was no exception. We hope that soon, with the easing of lockdown, many of our clients will be able to get back to work and back on their feet but, in the meantime and for those clients who are unable to do so, there is still a huge need and we are very grateful to all those who enable us to offer a helping hand to them.”
Sevenoaks Larder supports more than 100 families in the Sevenoaks area. If you would like to donate or if you know anyone that could use their support, please visit www.sevenoakslarder.co.uk .
