Students get an insight into the world of employment during ‘Work Experience Sevenoaks’ week
STUDENTS aged 16+ from the Sevenoaks area are being given an opportunity to get work experience from several local companies this week (1 – 5 July) thanks to an initiative being run by the Sevenoaks and District Chamber of Commerce.
The purpose of the work experience week is to offer local businesses the opportunity to showcase different career paths to local students without the need to commit to a full day or week of work experience. The businesses are offering a selection of half day, one or two hour presentations and round table discussions to provide students with a wide variety of career options to consider.
A spokesperson from the chamber said: “We are regularly approached by students asking for help with work experience, but often our local businesses aren’t able to commit the time for a full week. This initiative will provide businesses the opportunity to engage with local schools and students easily within a manageable timeframe. We have been overwhelmed with the support from Chamber Members.
“Our thanks go to FM Conway and Ten2Two Flexible Recruitment for helping with the planning and organisation of the event. We are hopeful the ‘Work Experience Sevenoaks’ week will provide students with an opportunity to see what local career opportunities are available throughout the district, and encourage smaller businesses to get involved with local schools.”
