Farningham hosts Women’s cricket festival – and there’s a bar and BBQ for spectators to enjoy
WOMEN’S CRICKET FESTIVAL: Farningham Cricket Club is hosting a Women’s Softball Cricket Festival this Sunday (30 June) from 11am – 4pm. There will be a BBQ and Bar you can enjoy while supporting your local women’s team.
EYNSFORD IN BLOOM: Judging will be on 4 July from 10am to noon. With just one more week left more helpers are invited to join the team of volunteers. The working parties meet at back of main village car park opposite the church on Tuesdays (9.30am) and Thursdays (6pm). The final Tuesday session before the judging is on the 2 July but the working parties will continue to help keep the village looking tidy. SALLY COSTON wishes to thank all those who were involved in her nomination and approval for the 2019 annual Community Award by KALC. The award was a well-deserved recognition of her 27 years of active involvement in many community activities in Eynsford, including her role as chair of EVS.
A LAVENDER AND POPPY WALK starts from Eynsford Village on Thursday 4 July at 10.15am. The circular walk will cover around 6.2 miles/10 km and is described as ‘moderate’ It starts at 10.15 and will finish 1.30pm approx. Participants are invited to meet by the river opposite The Plough pub near The Ford. There is a hilly start but this opens up good views. Dogs are allowed on short leads. There will be a nibble break or maybe an ice cream at the Lavender farm, and people can socialise in the pub at the end if they wish. The walk is being organised by Tonbridge & Malling Ramblers. LULLINGSTONE QUILT AND CRAFT FESTIVAL welcomes The Quilters Guild from across Kent, Sussex and Surrey on 19,20 & 21 July from 11am-5pm. Saturday 20 July will also include a book signing by Claire Weiss, the historian and author, of ‘Unravelling the Yarn’ which is about the life of Zoe Hart Dyke, Lullingstone’s Silk farm and much more.
A COFFEE & CRAFT MORNING is held in St Martin’s Church Eynsford on the last Wednesday of every month. The next one is on 31 July between 10am -12.30pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy a coffee, cake, craft and chat. Take along your knitting, sewing, crafting or just yourself. FRIENDS OF FARNINGHAM is a group of volunteers who meet for just an hour twice every month to help tidy the village. The group meets at the village hall at 10am on Thursdays 25 July, 29 August, and 26 September. The next Saturdays are 13 July, 10 August, and 7 September. EYNSFORD SUMMER FETE is on Saturday 13 July from 11am – 3pm at St. Martin’s Church. There will be stalls selling jewellery, scarves, gifts, books, cards, jam, cakes, sweets, plants, bric-a-brac and a chance to a prize in the raffle. Call in for morning coffee and cake or a light lunch. There will be stalls inside and outside church. All proceeds to St Martin’s Church refurbishment fund. THE ANTHONY ROPER FAMILY FUN DAY is being held at Anthony Roper primary school on Friday 9 August. It is free entry and everyone is welcome.
FARNINGHAM VILLAGE HALL needs a fund raiser/social secretary. Volunteers are needed to help with fund-raising events like a quiz or show or sale to help raise funds for maintenance of the hall. The Hall is used every week during the year by local people and community groups for many different activities, like yoga, dance, music, meetings, performances and productions. Volunteering provides an opportunity to use your talents, develop your skills, meet new people and make a useful contribution to the local community.
