TRAVEL: Escorted tours to Norway, Italy and Sicily

INGHAMS is offering a range of escorted tours this year but as spaces are limited the company is encouraging people to book as soon as possible for visits to Norway, Sicily and the Veneto region in Italy.

The Norway escorted tour is designed to give guests a real taste of the country, with the first two nights exploring Oslo, followed by a ride on the famous Bergen Railway across Europe’s highest mountain plateaus to Voss.

From here, guests are transferred deeper into ‘the real Norway’ to Ulvik, an authentic fjordside village on the Hardangerfjord, with excellent walking.

Next, there’s plenty of time to discover historic Bergen, and Stavanger, which is reached by the ‘Fjordline’ ferry cruise from Bergen harbour past the coastal islands.

Take a ride on Norway’s famous Bergen Railway across Europe’s highest mountain plateaus.

The 10-night Journey to the Fjords escorted group tour starts from £1,549 per person including three and four-star accommodation on a bed and breakfast or half board basis in Oslo, Ulvik, Bergen and Stavanger, as well as return flights (from London, Manchester and Edinburgh to Oslo, returning from Stavanger), airport transfers, the services of a guide throughout, a scenic rail transfer on the Bergen Railway from Oslo to Voss (with reserved seating and a light lunch served), a guided walk with the Inghams guide in Ulvik, and a scenic coastal ferry cruise transfer from Bergen to Stavanger (with buffet dinner included on board).

The package is valid for travel departing on 22 June 2018 or 20 July 2018. For more information, visit:

Relax and explore the wonders of Eastern Sicily.

EASTERN Sicily and some of its baroque towns in the south, which were made famous by the BBC’s Inspector Montalbano series. With a walking tour of Taormina and its Greco Roman Amphitheatre, a visit to Mount Etna and Savoca (where The Godfather was filmed), a trip to the beautiful city of Syracuse, the towns of Scicli and Ragusa (which form a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the Castle of Donnafugata and Punta Secca (which feature in the Montalbano TV series), this tour of Sicily is hard to beat

The seven-night Wonders of Eastern Sicily escorted group tour starts from £1,399 per person including four-star accommodation on a half board basis in Taormina and Ragusa, as well as return flights to / from Catania, airport transfers, the services of a guide throughout and a local wine tasting with light lunch. The package is valid for travel departing on 1 June 2018. For more information, visit:

DISCOVER more of what lies beyond the famous floating city of Venice and enjoy a fascinating look at some of north-eastern Italy’s architectural and artistic treasures. Stay in Cittadella and visit Asolo known as ‘the town of a hundred horizons’, followed by a trip to Villa Maser, one of the 16th century architect Andrea Palladio’s masterpieces. Next, a walking tour of the nearby city of Vicenza discovers a wealth of neo-classical treasures by Palladio and a local guide will help uncover the historical centre of Padua, its Basilica and the famous Scrovegni Chapel.

Discover beautiful architecture and art in Veneto.

Of course, there’s the option to visit Venice itself and no trip to Italy is complete without a wine tasting – or prosecco tasting in this case, in the vineyards of the Valdobbiadene region (the heart of the prosecco-making district).

The seven-night Jewels of the Veneto escorted group tour starts from £1,099 per person including four-star accommodation on a half board basis in Cittadella, as well as return flights to / from Venice, airport transfers, the services of a guide throughout and a prosecco tasting and light lunch.
