All change again: Spitfire fly past to celebrate Captain Tom Moore’s 100th birthday WILL go ahead – and Biggin Hill plans to play its part
ANOTHER UPDATE: Today (Tuesday 28 April) newspapers started carrying stories that there WILL be a Spitfire fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight for Captain Tom Moore 100th birthday on Thursday as My Sevenoaks Community reported a few days ago. The Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar have been told they cannot take part in the fly past but will be making their own flight over the famous airfield to mark the ‘Clap for the Carers’ event on Thursday.
This updates the story below:
Further to our recent story about Biggin Hill not being able to take part in Tom Moore’s 100th birthday Spitfire fly past on Thursday, some media outlets are now reporting that there will be no fly past at all.
The Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar still wants to play its part and have plans to fly their ‘Spirit of Kent’ Spitfire above the famous Biggin Hill airfield at 8pm on Thursday, to coincide with the nation’s weekly ‘Clap for our Carers’ event.
The flight will go close to the Princess Royal University Hospital at Farnborough as another nod towards the fantastic work being carried out by the NHS staff.
