Join team ellenor in the 7oaks Triathlon and help raise funds for the charity that supports children by providing chemotherapy in their own home
This year’s 7oaks Triathlon, being held in the Sevenoaks area on Sunday, 19 April, will once again be working in conjunction with the charity ellenor.
ellenor offers a different approach to care for children facing life limiting illnesses, providing vital care in the comfort of their own home with Mum and Dad by their side.
ellenor was the UK’s first children’s full hospice at home service, and is still one of only a very few acute services providing oncology and end of life care to seriously ill babies, children and young adults in the home.
The charity supports children by providing chemotherapy in their own homes, which can reduce the need for lengthy hospital visits, enabling the child to remain around their families at a difficult time. ellenor offers a seamless service of care for children and young people, age 0-25; working closely with a variety of care providers to provide chemotherapy, palliative care, end of life care.
But it doesn’t stop there, ellenor also cares for the whole family and recognises every member of the family needs support. ellenor cares 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies on the generous support from the community for funding.
One ellenor patient family member said: “At a difficult time ellenor made it so very much better. Everyone was so kind, respectful and friendly – what a team, all of you so wonderful. Our family were struck by the generous amount of time all the professional people gave us all. ellenor gave our family a sense of control and dignity, you got everything right, and for that we are forever grateful.”
