Sevenoaks law firm Knocker & Foskett welcomes Finian and Nicola to the team

THE TRANQUIL surroundings provided by the garden behind the Knocker & Foskett offices at the historic Red House in Sevenoaks were the venue for the Sevenoaks & District Chamber of Commerce 1st Wednesday of the month networking meeting this week.

Finian Davern (left), and Nicola Gibbs were introduced as the latest additions to the Knocker & Foskett team by practice manager Barry Landa (right) at the Sevenoaks & District Chamber of Commerce networking meeting.

Knocker & Foskett is one of the longest established Kent solicitors and has been providing legal advice in the Sevenoaks area since 1730. Practice manager Barry Landa took the opportunity to introduce Finian Davern and Nicola Gibbs.

Nicola is an Associate Solicitor and is Head of Knocker & Foskett’s Matrimonial and Family Department. Nicola qualified in 2008 and has specialised in family law throughout her career.

Nicola advises on all aspects of family law including divorce; financial settlements on separation, arrangements for children, pre-nuptial agreements, separation agreements, domestic violence situations, and emergency court applications

Finian advises on commercial and civil disputes, including breach of contract, agency and professional negligence claims, and probate and property disputes. He conducts cases through the courts system, but also where appropriate for his clients is experienced in negotiating out-of-court settlements.

He also provides employment law advice (to both employers and employees) in contentious and non-contentious matters on statutory and contractual rights and obligations.

Separately, Finian practises independently as a Notary Public, is a member of the Notaries Society, and is available to deal with any notarial enquiries.

Guests were also told that Chris Hugo was now a senior partner with the law firm. After obtaining an MA in law at the City University he trained and worked with a large City firm for a number of years before joining Knocker & Foskett and becoming a partner in 2000. He specialises in commercial litigation and employment practice and has an interest in professional negligence work and in Alternative Dispute Resolution, particularly mediation. He also deals with non-contentious employment work, including director’s service agreements and settlement agreements (acting on behalf of both employers and employees). Chris presents commercial employment workshops to law students at Sussex and Kent Universities

The 65 people who attended the networking meeting were invited to take part in a business card draw with the proceeds going towards the Sevenoaks & District Chamber of Commerce’s charities of the year fund. A bottle of Squerryes exclusive vintage donated by Knocker & Foskett was won by Rebecca Boys from Wilkins Kennedy. The next 1st Wednesday will be on 7 August at The Vine Cricket Pavilion.
