‘Sevenoaks District Communities Together’ appeal smashes target! Four local charities to benefit from fundraising
The ‘Sevenoaks District Communities Together’ appeal that was set up to raise money for four local charities has surpassed its £10,000 target and raised £11,650.
The four charities that will benefit from the funds are Age UK Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Service (DAVSS), Friends for Families and West Kent Mind. All four charities are facing a higher demand than ever before because of the Coronavirus outbreak. They have all had to dramatically change their services to make sure they can still be there for local people.
Sevenoaks District Council supported the appeal by matching the first £5,000 of donations. The full £11,650 will be split between the four charities equally.
Cabinet member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, (pictured) said: “We were overwhelmed by the generous donations that were pledged as soon as the appeal was launched. This has been a challenging time for everyone but our local communities have come out in force to help others.
“All four charities are helping to keep our most vulnerable residents safe so every penny makes a huge difference. Thank you to everyone donated.”
