Sevenoaks Care Homes invite the community to celebrate the role of arts within care
CARE HOMES in the Sevenoaks area are taking part in a special national Open Day event today (Friday 28 June) designed to build relationships with the local community and raise awareness of the range of services they can offer.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Weald Heights in Bourchier Close, Sevenoaks is opening its doors between 11am – 4pm for a free family-friendly art-themed party.
Visitors can look forward to Colourscape’s specialist sensory room, where guests can create and control their own music and paint with colour and light, a concert performed by residents, and live entertainment from a singer.
Weald Heights has also been developing a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which will be showcased at the event.
Rivermere Care Home on Westerham Road in Chipstead is holding an Arts in Care Day.
The public is invited to the home from 12.30pm where there will be refreshments, bakes and cakes and Arts in Care themed activities.
There will also be a performance by JB’s Jazz Band from 2.30pm and cream teas with fresh scones from 3.30pm.
Lavender Fields in Seal also taking part in the Care Homes Open Day and its doors will be open to the public between 11am and 4pm.
There will be a display of residents art and a watercolour art class courtesy of Creative Mojo. Entertainment will be provided throughout the event by Polly Pianola and country singer Hayley Ellis.
Refreshments will be available and a representative from Hospice in the Weald will be present throughout the day.
