Here’s a chance to get an allotment in Riverhead where you can start growing your own vegetables

ALLOTMENTS AVAILABLE: Riverhead Parish Council owns two sites of around 20 allotments each. Macartney Allotment Garden is situated at the end of Orchard Road and Broadmead Allotment Garden between Heathfield Road and Hawthorn Lane off Bradbourne Vale Road. Both sites benefit from tap water. One allotment has recently become available on each site. A good opportunity to prepare the ground before the autumn. You can find more information on the Parish Council website . Anyone interested in taking up an allotment (the cost is very low) should contact the Parish Clerk  – all contact details can be found at the foot of this column.

HOLIDAY WILDLIFE FUN: On Friday mornings 2, 9 and 16 August  at Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre at the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve there will be  Nature Explorer sessions for children aged 2-8  featuring Forest School based activities. A wonderful opportunity for families to have fun together, whilst exploring the beautiful woodland reserve and trying a variety of bush craft and arty activities. To book (essential) and for more information about these and other events see www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/events

The reserve with its walks around the lakes is open to everyone every day, dawn until dusk and the Visitor Centre is open every day 10am – 5pm. Ample parking. NB No dogs allowed except assistance dogs, because of the wildlife.

NATURE TOTS :Kent Wildlife Trust Forest School’s Nature Tots sessions on Fridays at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve have proved very popular this year. Specifically for pre-school age children, they provide a wonderful opportunity for little ones to explore, discover and learn from nature and gain a sense of achievement from a variety of nature, art and craft-based activities outdoors. To find out more and how to book for next term see www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/events. There are morning and afternoon sessions starting on 13 September.
