Friends of Bat and Ball station meet for an update on the latest developments

THE Friends of Bat and Ball Station are meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 14 August) at the Sevenoaks Town Council Offices on Bradbourne Vale Road, Sevenoaks, when members of the public have the chance to hear updates about the current development.

The previous meeting on 18 July addressed public concerns over train cancellations and delays because of a temporary timetable. There have also been concerns over the bus replacement service when commuters claimed there were little or no announcements as to when buses were arriving. Friends of Bat and Ball Station have been requested to contact Govia Thameslink and Southeastern about the concerns over the new timetable.

The town clerk has stated that work on the new station started on 18 June and is scheduled to run for 24 weeks. The town council received a £755,600 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to help restore the station.

There is also a free to attend talk on restoration of the station on Wednesday 15 August at Bat & Ball Station from 11am – noon when a director of Kingsbond Stone Restoration will give a lecture and a demonstration on restoration techniques. This event is free but places are limited so booking is essential and appropriate clothing is advised.

For further information or to book a place, please contact Linda Redden at heo@sevenoakstown.gov.uk

Further meetings of the Friends of Bat and Ball Station will take place 11 September and 16 October.
